Q.
What were you doing before the Oxford
Program and what are you doing now?
A.
Before,
I was pursuing my studies in Psychology,
without a clear direction of where I was
heading. Now, I have much more clarity in
terms of what I want (and need) regarding
work. I am currently involved in creating
a program for at-risk children at a local
mission. I am also teaching religious
education. As well, I have signed up for
some art classes. I hope to incorporate
this into my work somehow in the future.
I
was skeptical before I started the program,
as I had done a career course before, and
also read numerous books on the subject. I
was also weary regarding whether the
program was legitimate or not, and if it
would deliver. I can happily say now it's
definitely not a scam!
Q.
How
did the Oxford Program help?
| I
would say the one thing the Oxford program really helped me with,
was opening my eyes to new possibilities. In the past, I was very
set on the idea of one ideal job/career. I discovered so many unique
things that people are making good money at doing (and not in a
stale office, which really appealed to me). The concept of a portfolio
career has enabled me to become more flexible in my thinking, thus
opening myself to new experiences and prospects, in turn giving me
greater optimism and enthusiasm. |
Q. Any
other advice?
A.
My
advice is to set aside the time to complete the program
with your full attention. Also, I would say to treat the program as a fun investigation into who you
are. Thinking about specific jobs/avenues at first can be somewhat of a
distraction and obstacle. By focusing first on what you have to offer the
world and your best environment fit, it makes it easier to then later
identify where you belong. All the best to you!

"Books
and articles
I've read
have been
just pieces
of the
puzzle with
no
direction. I
did the
entire 'What
Color is
Your
Parachute'
book in
'95, |
|
| then 'The Pathfinder' in 2002, then went into
real estate...bad choice! I think these books made me more
confused than I was to start with. Your
program is
more focused
on adults and made
all the
difference.
Thank you! Thank you!" |
