Q.
What were you doing before the Oxford
Program and what are you doing now?
A.
Before Oxford
I was a software developer. Because of Oxford
I discovered that software development wasn't for me and that I would be
happier in technical writing. Now I work for a much better company
doing a mixture of the two and I am on my way to doing more and more
technical documentation and communications.
Q.
How
did the Oxford Program help?
| It showed me that I had SO many options. The biggest change that I made was to give up the mental
mindset that because I had put so much time and effort into
programming that I must continue to be a programmer for the rest
of my life. Once I decided I would go outside that box, I had
more alternatives than I could even begin to evaluate. |
Q. Any
other advice?
A.
1. Do the entire process as best you can. Every step really does
have its uses even if you don't seen them at the time. 2. Use the
coaching gym both to get perspective and keep yourself motivated to
continue. 3. Keep an open mind about all your alternatives. Get wacky.
Generate a lot of ideas about what you want 4. Volunteer. Do internships. See
what it's REALLY like.

"Books
and articles
I've read
have been
just pieces
of the
puzzle with
no
direction. I
did the
entire 'What
Color is
Your
Parachute'
book in
'95, |
|
| then 'The Pathfinder' in 2002, then went into
real estate...bad choice! I think these books made me more
confused than I was to start with. Your
program is
more focused
on adults and made
all the
difference.
Thank you! Thank you!" |
