  • "Taking it through the program is the least expensive major testing program that I found."
  • "ABSOLUTELY yes. I have a psychology background and feel very much that it's helped me to understand myself along with a healthy curiosity I have. Even with this background though, I had a problem putting in words the why's behind some frustration I have in my job and career. The HAB helped to succinctly articulate why I'm frustrated and put things into a light I'd not considered before."
  • "Yes, However, the cost could be prohibitive for someone who really needs to take it."
  • "Yes. I was initially hesitant to incur additional career change related expenses, but in hindsight, I feel it was very worthwhile."

2. Do you feel that the HAB helped you to gain greater insight into your strengths, weaknesses, and needs?
  % that said YES: 95%
  % that said NO: 5%

  • "It clearly tells you what you naturally good at, and what you aren't as good at"
  • " Again, absolutely. Previously to the HAB, I'd felt that my poor math skills were a liability and weakness. I just didn't get math; never had and I still suspect that I never will (at least not the way it's taught today). The HAB helped me understand my strengths better and to point out how some of my abilities may be conflicting each other. For instance, it's not that I'm mathematically incompetent or illiterate, I just see things differently from most everyone else. I feel now that I just need to better leverage my strengths to offset some of my weaker abilities (notice now they aren't negative liabilities?). Changing your perspective can be a huge help when trying to figure something out."
  • "Yes, other tests don't really test what the HAB does."
  • "Much of what the HAB revealed I was already aware of, to a certain degree. The HAB helped to confirm my intuitions about my own nature as well as revealed some aspects that I wasn't really aware of."

3. Do you feel that the HAB helped you to understand which types of work suited you best?

  % that said NO: 10%

  • "Not only do the HAB results provide insight, Steve's additional analysis of your results is particularly helpful in this regard."
  • "I think my HAB results are helping me to focus better on what I may be more suited to do with my work. I didn't expect to take the test, get the results, talk to Steve or anyone else about it and magically have a list of perfect jobs spit out of a magic box. We'd all probably prefer that, but what I did expect and get is to have a clear inventory of where I'm strongest and how to maybe better use those strengths."
  • "I feel the HAB has helped me establish criteria to use in my search."

4. Would you recommend the HAB to other Oxford Program members?

  • "I already have recommended the HAB to other friends who aren't even in the Oxford Program so yes, I think anyone in the Oxford Program should take this. I've taken about every psych test you can (when I took a Testing class in college) and this was the most accurate resulting as well as the more usable test I've found from my results. Interestingly, I've reviewed my results with friends who know me well and they all were in 100% agreement with what my results said about me. It was also VERY interesting to compare my results with a friend who'd taken the same test (though not through the Oxford Program group). She also thought the test was worth every penny and she paid full price to take it! I wish everyone had to take this test whether when during college years or now. I think the world would be a more efficient and happier place for it if we could all better use our skills/abilities."

5. Lastly, what would you say to a person wondering if they should take the HAB?
  Comments:

  • "I would say that, if you're going to do any career exploration, do it comprehensively and do it all at once. If you have any doubts about your innate abilities (and I had no idea what mine were!), take the HAB in conjunction with the OP. It is worth it."
  • "Literally? 'What's holding you back?' is what I'd ask them. Is it the cost? Because if it is, it's worth every penny. I got pretty close on my own after reading about every book out there on career management. Steve's program is the most usable I found though and the HAB really sharpens what the Oxford Program walks a user through. It's just so enlightening and can not only focus your understanding about yourself, much like a camera lens, but (of even more use) it can change your perspective about yourself. Anything that makes you understand and therefore feel better about yourself can't be quantified by dollars in it's worth. I'm glad I didn't have to, but I would have paid the full price to take the HAB and was about to when I saw that Steve had an incentive to do so through the Oxford Program."
  • "If you want some insight into your skills and aptitudes this is a good place to get that."
  • "I found the objective nature of the HAB to be exactly what I needed. Many other self tests seem too subjective which left me wondering if the results were really that accurate or just a reflection of what I was thinking and feeling at the time. The HAB leaves no room for consciously, or subconsciously, skewing the results and provide results that can be immediately put to use."
